Since 2018 · Westlands, Nairobi
We are a Kenyan hosting company, built for how business actually works here.
Azania Host provisions shared hosting, VPS hosting and dedicated servers for small, medium and large businesses across Kenya and the wider African market.

Our story
We were the developers who kept apologising for someone else’s servers
Every project ended the same way: a site we were proud of, handed over to a host that throttled it, lost email, or vanished when something broke on a Friday night. Clients blamed us, and fairly — we had chosen the host.nnSo in 2018 we bought our own hardware, learned to run it properly, and started hosting the sites we had built. Word travelled through Nairobi’s developer community faster than we expected. Eight years later we run infrastructure for more than 1,800 websites, and a growing number of businesses outside Kenya who want African latency without African-market excuses.nnWe are still a small company by design. Every client has a named engineer, and that engineer has root.
Our mission
Make world-class hosting an ordinary purchase for an African business
Priced in the currency you earn. Supported in the hours you work. Fast for the people you actually sell to.nnWe hold ourselves to two numbers: uptime, and how long a customer waits for a human being. Everything else — the hardware choices, the shift patterns, the refusal to oversell shared servers — follows from those two.
How we got here
Eight years, four decisions that mattered
1. 2018 — Our own hardware
We bought two servers, colocated them in Nairobi, and moved the twelve client sites we had built ourselves. The whole business plan was: never apologise for someone else’s downtime again.
2. 2020 — KES pricing and M-Pesa
The shilling moved, and our clients’ renewals moved with it. We repriced every plan in shillings, absorbed the currency risk ourselves, and added M-Pesa as a first-class payment method. Churn halved.
3. 2022 — NVMe, LiteSpeed and honest limits
We rebuilt the shared platform on NVMe and LiteSpeed, then set a hard cap on accounts per server. Slower to grow, but it is why our shared hosting behaves like a VPS at lunchtime.
4. 2024 — 24/7 engineers, no outsourcing
Instead of buying a call-centre contract we moved to three in-house shifts. Median first reply fell from just over an hour to eleven minutes, and it has stayed there.
